Kendo Kata Canceled & Entrance Changed on Sunday, April 5th

In preparation for the up-coming Nabeshima Cup, Kendo Kata is canceled on Sunday, April 5th. Kendo practice will start at 10:40 am and end at 12:30 pm. Iaido practice remain unchanged.

Also, on the same day, the Hornet Rd. entrance of GreenHill Schoole is closed. Please used the entrance on Spring Valley Rd.


Easter Sunday Iaido & Kendo

Iaido schedule is the same as usual.

Kendo Kata on Sunday is cancelled and we will be having an extended Shiai Practice starting at 10:40am.

All Volunteers and those competing in the Nabeshima Cup Taikai are highly encouraged to attend.

In case the gate at Hornet Road is closed, use the Spring Valley entrance instead.

Different parts will apply for different people in their roles for the upcoming Nabeshima Taikai. Please note the sections on scoring and setup, but everyone can gain a better understanding of the working parts of managing competitions.

Tomorrow night Kendo Only & Minor schedule change on Easter Sunday, April 5

Practice tomorrow (Tuesday, March 31) will be kendo only, focusing on taikai preparation. A regulation size shiaijo (court) will be laid out. The practice is highly beneficial to members who will compete in Nabeshima Cup. Please make your best effort to join the practice and arrive early to help set up the shiaijo.

In order to provide more time for kendo taikai preparation, kendo kata practice is canceled on Sunday, April 5. Iaido practice remains unchanged.

Tuesday nights schedule through April

Due to the incoming Nabeshima Taikai, we are making some adjustment to our regular Tuesday night practice.

Here is the Parking Map. The Auxiliary Gym is best accessed by turning west on Montwood Lane (one street south of Merrell Road) from Midway. The security entrance is immediately on your right on Montwood Lane. Once you get in through the gate, the Stephen B. Swann Center is all the way on the left. Refer to the parking map for valid school parkings. The Auxiliary Gym is upstairs inside the Stephen B. Swann Center, on the right hand side.

15th Nabeshima Cup & 9th Texas Open Kendo Taikai – April 17-19, 2015

Our dojo is pleased to announce the 15th Nabeshima Cup (第15回鍋島杯) and 9th Texas Open Kendo Taikai(第9回テキサスオープン)will commence on Saturday, April 18, 2015. The 2015 Nabeshima Cup Taikai will be offering four divisions: Mudansha (1 Kyu and below), Yudansha (1 Dan to 3 Dan), Women (3 Dan and below), and Youth. The Texas Open will be open to 4 Dan and above.

Location is changed this year. It will be held at:

This happens to be the weekend for the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in Dallas. So please plan your trip as early as possible. The Event Special rate at Hilton Lincoln Center is good until March 20, 2015. After that, it would be regular rate.
