This Tuesday’s practice will be Kendo only with a focus on Shinsa Keiko. Students who will be testing this weekend at Houston should try to attend. In addition, there will be no practice Sunday October 29th, due to most of our senior members being out of town for the seminar.
The Dallas/Fort Worth Kendo & Iaido Kyokai was founded in 1976 and has developed into a martial arts and cultural organization which seeks to promote the growth and development of the Japanese martial arts and their related cultural activities. For over 35 years, the Dallas/Fort Worth Kendo & Iaido Kyokai has continued to hold training classes; to host tournaments, seminars, and promotional testing for ranks; and to promote cultural development and awareness by performing demonstrations at schools and cultural events.
Due to most of our senior members being in Austin this weekend for the Longhorn Taikai there will be no practice this Sunday October 15th. There will also be no practice on Tuesday October 31st. The remaining changes for this month are listed below:
Oct 10th Kendo only (shiai) – All team members should be in attendance for this
Oct 17th Iaido only (basic and advanced)
Oct 24th Kendo only (shinsa)
Nov Resume normal schedule.
Due to a scheduling conflict at the Greenhill School, there will be no Iaido or Kendo practice this Thursday, September 28th, 2017.
We have received the Fall AUSKF/SWKIF Membership Registration Forms, unfortunately we have a extremely SHORT deadline of Thursday the 28th, please complete the form and make payment via PayPal on the website.
If you are testing at the Fall Seminar and you are not an AUSKF/SWKIF Member, it is imperative that you register for Membership.
Please turn in your completed Membership Form and PayPal Payment Receipt to Ashley Moore.
If you are planning to test at the Fall Seminar in Houston on Sunday, the 29th of October, you must speak with Ichimura Sensei for approval. The Shinsa Application and payment must be completed online via the links below.
If you do not have an AUSKF ID Number, please enter 00000.
We are still awaiting information on the Membership Drive, so please continue with the Shinsa Registration Process if you are planning on testing.

Due to the Dallas Japanese Association’s Japanese Fall Festival or Akimatsuri on Sunday, the 24th of September, Practice is cancelled, as the Dojo will be Participating in this event.
We will be performing an Enbu for both Iaido and Kendo at the Japanese Fall Festival at 12:30pm
DFWKIK will also be manning Booth A6 to provide information about our organization.

The Internal Registration Deadline for the SWKIF Fall Seminar is Thursday the 21st of September.
You will need to turn in the Registration Form, Liability Waiver and Payment or PayPal Payment Receipt. No incomplete paperwork will be accepted.

Due to an Athletic Event at Greenhill, practice on Thursday the 31st of August will start at 7:30pm.

Nabeyama Sensei is a former Team Japan member and 10-time participant in the All Japan Kendo Championships. As Men’s Coach of the University of Tsukuba, he has taught Yuya Takenouchi, Susumu Takanabe, and other renown kenshi in Japan.
