All DFWKIK members are encouraged to join the AUSKF (All United States Kendo Federation) and the SWKIF (Southwest Kendo & Iaido Federation). Membership with the national and regional kendo organizations has many benefits, and is required for promotional exams. Your membership will help bring top-level sensei to our kendo seminars and events.
DFWKIK members may submit their completed 2010 AUSKF/SWKIF Membership form, 2010 Release of Liability, and payment to DFWKIK Treasurer (Andrew Southworth) or any other dojo officer in class. Payment can also be made online via PayPal and form may be emailed to treasurer@dfwkik.org.
Because of the SWKIF Shinsa on Sunday, 31st of January, there will be no classes on that day.
However, all members are invited to come and support your fellow club members, or help in the hosting duties.
Classes will be canceled on Sunday February 7th, 2010, so that all members may attend the Annual Board Meeting.
This meeting will take place in the meeting room to the south of the upper gym at 0900 in the Tom Perryman Alumni Center (walk outside, all the way to the back of the gymnasium).
The meeting is open to anyone interested in the club. Depending on time, members in full Bogu may have time for jigeiko.

The Dallas/Fort Worth Kendo and Iaido Kyokai is please to announce that the 2010 Seminar and Shinsa will be held January 29th to 31st 2010. We are happy to announce that Mark Uchida Sensei (RokuDan Iaido, RokuDan Kendo) will be our Chief Instructor, assisted by Russell Ichimura Sensei (RokuDan Iaido, RokuDan Kendo). The event will constitute 1 1/2 days of seminar and a Shinsa testing up to ShoDan.

It is my pressure to provide you with the registration packet for the 2010 12th Annual Detroit Open Kendo Tournament, hosted by the Detroit Kendo Dojo, on February 13th and 14th 2010, in Birmingham, Michigan.
This year our distinguished tournament guests are Toru Kamei sensei Kendo Hanshi 8 Dan, Master Instructor of the Kumamoto Police Department, and Shinji Funatsu sensei Kendo Kyoshi 8 Dan, Master Instructor of the Osaka Police Department. Both of our guests are conducting an AUSKF Kendo Education Tour.
The enclosed packet includes tournament information and scheduling, as well as the required entry/waiver form. Please complete your entry/waiver form and submit electronically per instructions. The Board has informed me that once again the gym will not be
available to us for practice in, this Sunday (9th of August, 2009).
Therefore the Kendo and Iaido classes are cancelled and will resume on

The dojo will be holding an Iaido Taikai on June 14th, 2009. It will unfortunately run over the regularly scheduled Kendo class.
