In preparation for the up-coming Nabeshima Cup, Kendo Kata is canceled on Sunday, April 5th. Kendo practice will start at 10:40 am and end at 12:30 pm. Iaido practice remain unchanged.
Also, on the same day, the Hornet Rd. entrance of GreenHill Schoole is closed. Please used the entrance on Spring Valley Rd.
Practice tomorrow (Tuesday, March 31) will be kendo only, focusing on taikai preparation. A regulation size shiaijo (court) will be laid out. The practice is highly beneficial to members who will compete in Nabeshima Cup. Please make your best effort to join the practice and arrive early to help set up the shiaijo.
In order to provide more time for kendo taikai preparation, kendo kata practice is canceled on Sunday, April 5. Iaido practice remains unchanged.
This year’s pool party will be held on Saturday, August 16, from 3pm to 7pm. Al and Lucy are kindly hosting the party at their house. Due to privacy reasons, the address will be announced in the dojo only.
DFWKIK will be hosting a Taikai Practice for the SWKIF Team Members, who will be competing in San Diego CA for the AUSKF Nationals, on June 14th and 15th. Due to the special practices, there will be no regular iaido and kendo practice on Sunday, June 15.
The DFWKIK will be hosting the 2014 AUSKF Zone 6 Shinpan Seminar on May 3-4. For members with kendo rank of sandan and above are highly encouraged to attend, and it will be a good learning experience for those who are nidan and below. There will be no fee to attend the two day seminar, however you can pre-order the lunch ($12/each per day) and banquet dinner ($30/person). If you are interested in attending, please see Yong Cho at practice for the registration form. The dojo deadline will be April 13.
This year’s Ito cup will be held May 17, 2014. Members who will be participating must fill out the following waiver form (page 6). Liability forms should be turned in at class before the deadline.

The deadline for DFWKIK members to turn in their forms to David Cooper sensei is Sunday, April 27th. No late applications will be taken, so please don’t wait until the last minute.

The two parking lots of Green Hill High School will be closed from 3/10 to 3/15 for restriping. Parking for Tuesday (3/11) and Thursday (3/13) will be affected. However, two parking lots will not be closed at the same time.Whenever one is closed, the other is open. Please see the detail of closure listed below.

In recognition of Independence Day this Thursday, we will not be holding Iaido or Kendo practices.
Because many of our senior members will be out of town for the National Iaido Taikai and Seminar, iaido classes will not be held on Thursday evening, June 27th and on Sunday morning, June 30th. KENDO CLASS WILL BE HELD at the usual time for kendo on Thursday. Please arrive early to prepare the wrestling room. On Sunday morning, kendo kata practice will be held at the usual time, followed by kendo practice.
